The arrest, trial and sentencing of Fuchs as a Soviet spy had a traumatic effect on Peierls and his wife, both of whom had befriended him. This file contains:
- copy letter from Genia Peierls to Fuchs, written after Peierls's visit to him and his reply, 6 Feb 1950, from Brixton Prison
- letter from G.I. Taylor to Peierls on hearing of the arrest, expressing his dismay, and Peierls's reply, Feb 1950
- brief letter from Peierls offering help to Fuchs on his release, 1959
