Correspondence with publishers and editors, 1955-1994
An alphabetical sequence of correspondence and papers exchanged with editors, authors and publishing houses. It may concern Peierls's own publications or his work as a member of editorial and advisory boards. Drafts or outlines for proposed publications may be included.
The journal with which Peierls had the longest and most active connections was Contemporary Physics whose workings are well illustrated by the extensive material at MSS. 11619/40-41/E.8-26. His own principal publishing house for books written during the period covered by this collection was Princeton University Press (MSS. 11619/44-45/E.66-81).
An indication is given wherever possible of the range of topics treated, in view of possible overlap with other sections, especially C (Nuclear Weapons) and D (History of Science). Further material relating to Peierls's work as a referee for journals and publishers is in section L.
