Correspondence and other documents kept and collected by Konrad Braun regarding the fate of Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, Hildegard Braun and Johannes Braun, including correspondence about attempts to secure their emigration from Germany, and papers relating to the post-war search for Hildegard.
- Folder 1: 'Red Cross letters': Wartime correspondence 1939-1945 between family members in the UK and in Germany conveyed via the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva. Short notes in prescribed form, limited to 25 words, sent and received to and from Konrad Braun, Gerhard Braun, Hildburg Braun, Anneliese Braun and Ruth Braun in the UK and Gertrud Friedmann-Braun, Hildegard Braun, Josephine Heermann ('Tante Finchen'), Gisela Weber and Kurt Finster in Germany.
- Folder 2: Materials concerning Gertrud Friedmann-Braun's deportation to and death in a 'Sammellager' in Berlin, Dec 1942, including letters of condolence received by Konrad Braun and Gerhard Braun.
- Folder 3: 'Betrifft das Schicksal meiner Mutter und Geschwister' (title 'Betr. das Schicksal von Großmama Gertrud, Tante Hildegard und Onkel Johannes' by Thomas Braun): 'Mama' (Gertrud Friedmann) and 'Betr. Hildegards Schicksal'. Includes attempts to communicate with Hildegard Braun in Theresienstadt via the Red Cross, 1943-1944; correspondence relating to the post-war search for Hildegard Braun, 1945-1969, with statutory declarations by Konrad Braun and others of their knowledge of the fate of Hildegard, Gertrud and Johannes Braun; correspondence relating to Konrad Braun's attempts to get Gertrud and Hildegard out of Germany, 1941-1942. Also includes correspondence and statutory declarations regarding post-war compensation claims of the Birnbaum and the Schneider families.
- Folder 4: 'Betrifft das Schicksal meiner Mutter und Geschwister' (title 'Betr. das Schicksal von Großmama Gertrud, Tante Hildegard und Onkel Johannes' by Thomas Braun): 'Johannes'. Includes three letters from Johannes Braun to Konrad Braun, 1939; correspondence relating to Konrad Braun's attempts to bring Johannes Braun to England, 1938-1940, and letters of condolence received by Konrad Braun after Johannes' death in a concentration camp near Lublin, 1942.
