Sub-Series
'Shearwaters in the English Channel', British Birds, Vol.45, Feb 1952.
This paper was the result of a systematic study which attempted to clear up some unresolved questions concerning the records of shearwaters in the English Channel. In the drafting of the paper Nicholson drew on the assistance of a number of experts in this field including W.B. Alexander, H.C. Alexander and R.M. Lockley.
Some of the 'shearwater reconnaissance' was carried out by Nicholson and other ornithologists on board Lt-Col. H.G. Hasler's yacht, 'Petula'.
