Along the lower edge of the album page, written in ink, the image is captioned "Gateway at Usk Castle".
Affixed to the reverse of the album leaf is a newspaper clipping about Henry Fox Talbot, titled The "Father of Photography". On the album page, handwritten in pencil lengthways alongside the newspaper clipping, is text that reads "Henry Fox Talbot was half brother to M[rs] Gaisford (Horatia) whose mother Lady E. Feilding [sic] had previously been the wife of W. D. Talbot of Lacock Abbey who died July 1800".
