Biographical / Historical

Calvert Richard Jones (1804-1877) was a marine painter, traveller, and photographer. As a student of mathematics at the University of Oxford he befriended fellow student Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot, cousin of Henry Fox Talbot. Jones initially practiced photography using the daguerrotype method, but later collaborated with Fox Talbot and adopted his calotype process.
