Item 1: c. 90 letters from Vienna, Switzerland and France, discussing Balkan problems, especially Albania, Viennese social life, lease of Stixenstein, visits to Austerlitz and Trieste, evidence to Civil Service Commission, Sarajevo murder and outbreak of war, return to England via Switzerland, visits to military hospitals in France and relations between the Red Cross and the Anglo-French Hospitals Committee, 5 Jan 1914-31 Dec 1914.

Item 2: c. 120 letters from England and France, discussing visit to St. Malo hospitals (Jan 1915), Windsor Castle (Aug 1915), Salonica and general reaction to war news, appointment to Foreign Languages Education Committee, suspicions against Marie de Bunsen and driving and mechanical lessons on a Studebaker, 5 Jan 1915-2 Dec 1917.

Item 3: c. 45 letters from South America, discussing visits to Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and USA; also includes journal of journey with Special Mission on Arlanza to South America, including crossing the line, with comments on other members of the mission, 12 Apr 1919-30 Sep 1919.

Item 4: c. 55 letters, mainly from England and Vienna, discussing automobile accidents, visits to Vienna and Budapest (Oct 1919) and discussion with Princess Beatrice about Queen Victoria's journals (Aug 1920), 14 Feb 1919-29 Dec 1920.
