This was the P.R.G. computer, supplied by Computer Technology Ltd. (CTL) for Strachey's Science Research Council (S.R.C.) project. The S.R.C. grant was agreed in November 1968 and the machine was delivered in March 1969. Strachey and his team had written a compiler and operating system, using BCPL, and the machine was operating almost at once.
