- Folder 1: Hong Kong, 1937-1940. Also includes some letters regarding Sydney Caine's possible appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Hong Kong University, 1947.
- Folder 2: Formation of Colonial Development Corporation, 1943 and 1947, including correspondence with Lord Hailey at the Colonial Office about the investment of capital in the colonies, 1943; and a transcript of 'Address by Sir Sydney Caine at Unilever House, Blackfriars, on Wednesday, Sept. 10th, 1947, on the Colonial Development Corporation'.
- Folder 3: Washington, 1948-1952. Includes correspondence of Sydney Caine and as Head of the United Kingdom Treasury Supply Delegation in Washington, with focus on weekly updates on financial situations to Sir Henry Wilson Smith. Other correspondents include Sir Edmund Hall-Patch, Hugh Ellis-Rees, Sir Herbert Brittain, [Sir Thomas] Leslie Rowan, Sir Christopher Steel, Sir Alexander Clutterbuck, and Sir Roger Makins.
- Folder 4: University of Malaya, 1951-1956, mainly about the appointment of Sydney Caine as Vice Chancellor, 1951-1952, and his resignation from the post, 1956.
- Folder 5: Ceylon Government Planning Secretariat, 1953-1956, including a paper ‘Recommendations for Ceylon Government Planning Secretariat’ by Sydney Caine, 1953, and the corresponding cabinet report.
- Folder 6: Appointment as Director of the London School of Economics, including invitation letter from Sir Alexander Carr-Saunders, and subsequent correspondence with others including congratulations, 1956. Also includes correspondence with Eugene Black regarding a possible post as Chairman of the Economic Development Institute, 1955, and with Gilbert Fleming of the Ministry of Education regarding an offer to become Chairman of the Burnham Committee, 1957.
