Darlington attended a symposium on 'The ecology of child and human development' at the University of Miami, 21-25 March. He presented a paper on 'The effects of heredity and environment in the development of human intelligence' (published in Brain and Intelligence: The Ecology of Child Development, 1973). He also visited Georgia during his trip.
