Permanent Mandates Commission, 1909-1944
Series
Lugard was the British Representative on the Permanent Mandates Commission from 1922 to 1936.
The papers include a considerable amount of material on the individual Mandates arranged according to territory. There is also more general material referring to Lugard's contribution to the Commission's work, to the sessions, the conventions, resolutions and reports and to the particular problems caused both by Germany's claim to colonies in the mid 1930s and by the movement towards closer union in East Africa.
