Related Materials

The two other volumes of this work are MSS. Montagu c. 1-2 and the three volumes have been paginated together. The volumes must have been written in 1773 or 1774, for the title describes the author as domestic chaplain to Margaret, duchess dowager of Douglas, who died on Oct. 24, 1774, and the (original) paper appointing him chaplain (pasted on the cover of MS. Montagu c. 1) is dated July 15, 1773.
