George Frideric Handel (1685-1759): 'Choruses from the Messiah, adapted for the organ by J.F. Burrowes', 1804
13 choruses, transcribed for organ solo. Professional-style copy, paginated [1]-38, dated 1804. The remainder of the volume (pp. 39-161) was left unpaginated and is largely blank music paper, but the openings of various works are intermittently scattered throughout, in the hand of William Horsley, almost all breaking off after a few bars (pp. 39-42, 46-48, 66, 72-74, 76, 79, 91 (organ part of a Te Deum in B flat), 94 (Hymn tune 'Salisbury'), 97, 105, 109-110, 128, 131-132, 134, 154, 155-161 ('Exercises in counterpoint'). Includes part of a letter draft (p. 154). The volume is partly used 'reversed'.
