Ashridge House of Citizenship, (1956-1957) [The House of Citizenship, with between 40-50 boarding girls between the ages of 18 and 24, was invited to re-locate to Ashridge College from London following the meeting of the Governing Body of 15 Jul 1949.] Statements of expenses involved in the re-location of the House of Citizenship from Ashridge to Hartwell [Includes lists of students enrolled at the school, c.1957-1960]
  2. Astor Scholarship Trust, (Nov 1949-Jun 1956) [By the terms of the trust deed dated 31 Dec 1930, Waldorf Astor, Viscount Astor provided the sum of £2000 to fund scholarships at the Bonar Law College to be awarded preferably to trade unionists who have attended Workers' Education Association classes from Plymouth or the West Country, with the object of 'promoting the political education of the poorer classes'.] Correspondence concerning proposed alteration to the Astor Scholarship trust deed and subsequent ruling that the original trust deed was invalid under the terms of the Charitable Trusts (Validation) Act 1954. Includes: Copy of Trust Deed dated 31 Dec 1930; Opinion of Mr E Irvine Goulding on the possible revision of the trust deed dated 6 Jun 1951; Minutes of the Astor Scholarship Trustees dated 13 Dec 1950; Further Opinion of Mr E Irvine Goulding dated 30 Nov 1954; Photocopy of Deed of Indemnity on the handling over of the Fund to the Executors of the Rt Hon. Waldorf, 2nd Viscount Astor, deceased, dated 10 Jun 1955.
  3. Assorted Ashridge College prospectuses (1930-1953), flyers and course programmes. Some are photocopies only. Includes 'Home & Empire' issue, Mar 1935, with advertisement on last page: 'Spring Time at Ashridge: four weeks' course in Modern History, Economics and Current Affairs'. Also includes note listing publications in which advertisements had been placed and the estimated cost thereof.
