Records of the Committee for the Welfare of Africans in Europe, 1916-1944
This sections consists of the records of the Committee for the Welfare of Africans in Europe. The first half is composed of twenty-nine files numbered H1 / 1-29 containing the copies of the "out" letters of this Committee from 1919 to 1941. In the list the numbers in brackets are the numbers on the backs of the files, written by the Secretary of this committee, which do not always agree with the serial numbers of the files given them in this list. The second half of this section consists mainly of a number of files of letters received by this committee about the welfare of African Native Labour Contingents in Europe during the second half of the First World War. These files are labelled H2 / 1-74. There are also in this part of section H two boxes of financial accounts and reports labelled H2 / 75-76; they cover the years from 1921 to 1944. A fuller account of this section is given in the list below.
