Music by Daniel Purcell and others, Date not recorded at time of cataloguing
One hand wrote the 5 songs from D. Purcell's The Grove (fols. 1-6) [Humphreys 119, nos. 5, 12, 16, 21, 39] the Pallas music from D. Purcell's The Judgment of Paris (fols. 6v-13) [Humphreys 125, nos. 14, 15, 21, 23, 25] and the sacred song 'Thou the preserver of the preserver of the chaste', possibly also by D. Purcell? (fols. 13v-14). There was originally a leaf preceding fol. 1, containing the beginning of the first song (opening words 'Happy mansions').
Another hand wrote the aria 'Thus the gloomy world' with violin obbligato from H. Purcell's The Fairy Queen [Z. 629/43] on fols. 15v-19. Notes apparently written during a lesson are on fols. 20v-21.
The hand which appears in MS. Mus. d. 250-252 wrote, apparently composing, on fols. 19v-20 and 21v-23v. The name of R. Leveridge on fol. i was possibly written by this same hand. A fifth hand appears on fols. 36-37v rev.
