'Old Oxford', an extensive collection of notes and extracts chiefly from printed sources relating to the history, topography and old buildings of the city of Oxford, the whole compiled by Mr. Herbert Hurst. To each volume is prefixed an index to its contents and a list of the principal items contained in it: MS. Top. Oxon c. 191 is a general index to the whole. The longer articles in each volume are here given:

  1. Extracts from Bodleian MSS. nos. 8515 (fol. 1), 8514 (fol. 54), 8516 (fol. 95), 10854 (fol. 247), and printed books as A. Clark's Life and Times of Anthony Wood (fols. 109, 221)
  2. Paper by the writer on the foundations of Oseney abbey (fol. 235)
  3. Extracts from the 16th cent. churchwardens' accounts of St. Martin's, Carfax (fol. 263)
  4. Inventories of the church ornaments, 1547, 1552, 1553, 1560 (fol. 268)
  5. Interspersed are notes, by the writer, of archaeological discoveries made in Oxford in 1895-7 (fols. 104, 106, 154, 159, 216, 265)
  6. Fols. 160-202 consist of newspaper cuttings
