Historical extracts chiefly from Cottonian MSS. The following are the more important sections:

  1. P. 4. 'ex registro prioratus Dunelmensis', being extracts from letters addressed to the prior of Durham from Cott. MSS., and notes from numerous other Cottonian MSS., including (p. 25) Tib. B. xi, the chartulary of st. Mary's, Dublin
  2. P. 28. 'collectanea ex chartis antiquis turris', being brief notes from the 'cartae antiquae' rolls now in the Public Record Office
  3. P. 51. abstracts of deeds relating to Westminster abbey, apparently from Cott. MS. Faust. A. 3, followed by extracts from a Waltham abbey chartulary in Cott. MS. Tib. C. ix (p. 58)
  4. P. 63. extracts from Cott. MS. Cleop. F. iv, for which see Nicholas, Proceedings and ordinances of the Privy Council, vol. iii
  5. P. 74. notes 'ex libro MS. Cott. [Claud B. viii] de reformatione hospitii regis tempore Edwardi secundi', printed in T. F. Tout's Place of Edward II in English History, as MS. B

  7. P. 91. passages from the 'Disputatio contra Judaeos per Gislebertum [i.e. Gilbert Crispin] Westmonasterii coenobii procuratorem et servum ad Anselmum archiepiscopum' in Cott. MS. Tit. D. xvi, followed by abstracts of Anglo-Saxon charters from Cott. MS. Aug. ii (p. 94) and (p. 107) notes from the Merton priory register in Cott. MS. Claud. C. vii
  8. P. 113. excerpts from Cott. MS. Vesp. F. xvii, the Leicester abbey register, and from Cott. MS. Vitell. C. ix, the register of Llandaff known as Tilo (p. 117), followed by notes from another Llandaff codex, written after 1433 and known as 'Textus ecclesiae', but which is not now known to exist (p. 130)
