Notebooks of prof. Rigaud: Similar scientific collections, Written in 1806-1839, chiefly by S. P. Rigaud
Notebooks of, and chiefly written by, prof. S. P. Rigaud on scientific and literary subjects, especially Astronomy, Mathematics, and Natural Science, usually consisting of stitched sections, each dated and signed and containing varying numbers of leaves: every volume has a (later) list of contents. Prof. Rigaud was fond of noting down criticisms as he read through a book, and everything he did was distinguished by neatness and precision.
The chief contents are as follows, the papers and essays to which no name is attached being by Rigaud:
- Notes for Rigaud's lectures in 1833 (fol. 1)
- Copies of three letters from Newton to Halley, 1686-7 (fol. 117)
- Meteorological Oxford tables and calculations for rain, 1815-34 (fol. 140) and wind, 1828-36 (fol. 208)
- Copy of measurements of the height of the Soufriere in St. Vincent's by sir Everard Home, 1837 (fol. 234)
