'Coppyes of the Papers [and plans] relateing to the [condition and repairs of the] Publick Library & Divinity School, 1701 & 1702...', Written early in the 18th cent=ury
'Coppyes of the Papers [and plans] relateing to the [condition and repairs of the] Publick Library & Divinity School, 1701 & 1702. The Originals are in the Publick Library.' Apparently two sets of 14 papers were made, the best set (including some originals) being now included in MS. Bodl. 907, which contains i-vi, viii-xiv, xiii occurring twice.
In the present volume the papers are either copies of MS. Bodl. 907 (iii, iv, vi, x), or perhaps copies of the same originals (ii, v, ix, xi ?); but vii-viii, xii-xiv are wanting, no. iv. contains an additional letter of dr. D. Gregory, June 16, 1700 (fol. 5), and fol. 14 is an additional paper of Oct. 15, 1702: while 'vii'-'viii' are mere lists of Savile books and excerpts from the Savile Statutes.
Nos. i, iii, v, xii are printed in (Walker's) Oxoniana iii. 16. The occasion of the repairs was the apparent giving way of the roof of the Divinity School and the walls of the Library above, and several copies of Sir Christopher Wren's letters of advice are included (nos. i, iii, v, x, A.D. 1700).
