Treble Cantoris Anthem book, in use mid-18th - 19th cent., 18th cent.-19th cent.
The music present here is not found in the earlier part-books, and includes works by Aldrich, John Bishop, Blow, W. Boyce, Child, Clark, Croft, R. Farrant ('Lord for thy tender mercies' sake), Gibbons ('Hosanna to the son of David'), Goldwin, Greene, Handel, W. Hayes, c. King, Purcell, Vaughan Richardson, Rogers, Charles Stroud, Tallis ('All people that on earth' and 'I call and cry'), Weldon and Wise. Other parts of many of these anthems are in the quarto part-books catalogued below.
Copied after 1730 (see Dr Greene, p. 38) by the hand which in MS. Mus. d. 156, p. 60 follows M. Cove's. Sections were replaced and added in late 18th cent. by P. Hayes and others. Indexed, 19th cent., p. 1 (see. MS. Mus. c. 46).
