'Contemplations and reflexions upon the Psalmes of David, applying those devotions to the troubles of this time. By Edward Earle of Clarendon', Written in about A.D. 1671
'Contemplations and reflexions upon the Psalmes of David, applying those devotions to the troubles of this time. By Edward Earle of Clarendon', with a dedication and preface. These (MSS. Clarendon 135*, 135**, 135***) were begun in about 1647 and laid aside in 1651 when he had reached the 70th Psalm. In 1668 the work was resumed and finished by 18/28 Feb. 1670/1, the date of the dedication. It was printed in 1727. The present volumes, which divide after the 56th and 109th Psalms, are a careful contemporary copy, bound in red leather with gold tooling and on every cover the arms of the author, combining Hyde, Langford and Aylesbury, surmounted by a coronet.
