Clarendon family letters, chiefly addressed to the 1st earl of Clarendon, in chronological order, the writers are:

  1. Fol. 3. Henry Hyde, the chancellor's father (five, 1627-31
  2. Fol. 12. sir Thomas Aylesbury the chancellor's father-in-law, 14 July 1634
  3. Fols. 16, 51. Lawrence Hyde (one to his brother, the chancellor, n.d.; two to the 2nd earl, 1654)
  4. Fols. 18. the 1st earl of Clarendon, the chancellor (ten drafts, 1634-35, etc.)
  5. Fol. 32. Frances, the chancellor's wife (two, to her husband, 1658)
  6. Fol. 36. Anne duchess of York (eight, to her father, the chancellor, and to the 2nd earl, 1654-63, etc.)
  7. Fol. 55. Ann lady Aylesbury (four to her son-in-law, the chancellor, 1659, etc.; seven to the 2nd earl, 1655-60; one to her grandson Edward, 1660)
  8. Fol. 78. mrs. Susan Aylesbury (one, to her nephew, the second earl, 1660)
  9. Fol. 81. lord Fielding (three, to the chancellor, 1636/7, etc.)
  10. Fol. 87. lady Dalkeith (four, to the chancellor)
  11. Fol. 93. members of the Grandison family (four, 1642-59, etc.)
  12. Fol. 100. mrs. Barbara Inch (an appeal to the chancellor, her relation, 12 June 1660)
  13. Fol. 102. lady M. Orrery (to the countess of Clarendon, 11 June, 1667)
  14. Fol. 104. dr. James Hyde (to the 2nd earl, 22 Mar. 1663/4)

At fol. 14 is a draft of the will of Henry Hyde, the chancellor's brother: at fol. 79 a mock decree about a wager between the chancellor and his daughter Ann. A list of the papers precedes, not quite corresponding to the present volume.
