Biographical / Historical
'Pledged Gifts', Oxfam's first regular giving scheme, launched in 1959, the brainchild of Richard Exley [Appeals Officer]. The scheme recruited Pledged Gift collectors, who gave out cards and stamps to a circle of donors, usually their neighbours or workmates, who gave a small, monthly donation, in return for a newsletter.
