A collection of Greek epigrams, with a few longer poems interspersed, written in the first half of the 18th cent. partly by J. P. D'Orville
Comprises:
- (fol. 27) Παύλον ποιητοῦ Σιλεντιαρίοννἱοῦ Κύρον''Eκφρασις εἰs τὴν μεγάλην ἐκκλησίαν ἤτοι τὴν άγίαν 'Σοφίαν
- (fol. 45, 118) Εκφρασις τοὔ''Αμβωνας, and 'Iωάννον γραμματικού Τάζης''Εκφρασις τοὔ κοσμικοὔ πίνακας τοὔ ὄντος ἐν τῷ χειμρίῳ λοντρῷ 'τῷ δημοσίῷ ἐν Τάζει ή ἐν'Αντιοχεία', by the same author as fol. 27
A note on fol. 15 shows that the Paulus Silentiarius is from Holsten's selection (1626, revised 1629) from Salmasius's transcript of the Palatine MS.: and that D'Orville wrote much of the volume, partly from the Palatine Anthology itself. The original MS. of Holsten is itself known as the Codex Anthologiae Barberinianus. The old pagination (307-340, 151-306) connects this MS. with MS. D'Orville 234, though they differ in size.
