'In this booke are transcribed all the ould Charters of the Towne of Cambridge, by the appointment of John Wicksted gent. sometyme an allderman of the same towne, who gave it vnto me for my paynes in transcribeing the same in ... 1610. Samuell Spaldyng.' The documents which are partly University charters range from 1201 to 1548, and are written in a law hand.
At fol. 57 is 'The Regester of all the orders, statutes and ordennances ... for the ... gouernment of this towne ...', 1609 (-10?): at fol. 90 'A letter from his maiestie concerninge the New River', 13 Apr. 1609.
