Collections made by James Bowen, Written chiefly in the third quarter of the 18th century, partly by J. Bowen
Collections made by James Bowen, a painter and undertaker of Shrewsbury (d. 1774: his printed trade-card is in Gough Shropshire 2, p. 744; 18, p. 41) and his son John, for a history of Shropshire and especially Shrewsbury: 'Antiquities of Shropshire, with the state of that County down to the present year 17.'
This is a copy of part of the next volume, written out, with the omission of some references and in a rather more literary style: but includes only the general account, Shrewsbury and other boroughs, and the hundreds of Pimhill, Ford, Overs, Stottesden, Purslow and Munslow (part). A list of contents by Gough is prefixed.
