Collections made by James Bowen, a painter and undertaker of Shrewsbury (d. 1774: his printed trade-card is in Gough Shropshire 2, p. 744; 18, p. 41) and his son John, for a history of Shropshire and especially Shrewsbury:
- Fol. 1. A list of the deeds in the exchequer of the town of Shrewsbury, 1769, with abstracts and copies of some, and information about town charities and schools
- At fol. 120c is the original discharge of the sequestration of the estates of Richard Herbert lord Herbert of Cherbury, by the Commissioners for compounding, 24 Jan. 1649/50
- At fol. 131 a contemporary copy of a Chancery decree relating to the manor of Ford or Fordshome, 1608 or 1609, with a list of rents, etc. in Latin
