Collections made by James Bowen, a painter and undertaker of Shrewsbury (d. 1774: his printed trade-card is in Gough Shropshire 2, p. 744; 18, p. 41) and his son John, for a history of Shropshire and especially Shrewsbury:

  1. Fol. 1. A list of the deeds in the exchequer of the town of Shrewsbury, 1769, with abstracts and copies of some, and information about town charities and schools
  2. At fol. 120c is the original discharge of the sequestration of the estates of Richard Herbert lord Herbert of Cherbury, by the Commissioners for compounding, 24 Jan. 1649/50
  3. At fol. 131 a contemporary copy of a Chancery decree relating to the manor of Ford or Fordshome, 1608 or 1609, with a list of rents, etc. in Latin
