Honeymoon diary. From 25 Aug till 27 Sep Cécile continued the diary alone, leaving space in the lower part of each page, which was filled by Felix, ca. 1839; see Briefwechsel mit ... Karl Klingemann, p. 239. The diary contains 37 pen-and-ink sketches by Felix and Cécile: 9 of Felix's sketches and one by Cécile were reproduced by Petitpierre, The Romance of the Mendelssohns, 1947, pp. 152-63. Music is on fols. 12b (Allegretto in A major for piano, reproduced Petitpierre, op. cit. pp. 156-7), fol. 50 (Song in F, 'Die Freundin'), and fol. 79 ('2-stimmige Canon' in B minor), of which a pencil copy is in MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn g. 4, fol. 40v. Pressed violets have been removed to MS. M. Deneke Mendelssohn d. 69, fol. 1.
