Folder L.37. Correspondence with producer and others at BBC re programmes, contract, arrangements for recording etc. May-December 1963. Includes correspondence from colleague on electron micrographs for programmes.

Folder L.38. Correspondence and arrangements for German version of lectures: notes of models and material required, contract with Bayerische Rundfunk, payment of fees for original broadcast in 1964 and repeat in 1966.

Folders L.39-L.44. Correspondence with G. Bell & Sons Ltd., and others, regarding published versions of lectures, American and German editions, translations etc. Most of the correspondence is with S.L. Dennis, a director of the firm.

Folder L.39. 1964-1965. Initial approaches, arrangements for adaptation, contract, negotiations with German publisher.

Folder L.40. 1966. English and American editions, Japanese translation, revised preface for German edition.

Folder L.41. October-December 1966. Correspondence and papers relating to article "The Elusive Code of Life" by B. Commoner in Saturday Review 1 October 1966, casting doubt on the role of DNA, and the editorial comment suggesting that Kendrew shared this view; an extract from The Thread of Life was printed in support. Kendrew wrote a letter in rebuttal which was published with an editorial apology in the issue of 4 March 1967.
