Salaries.

Folder H.322. Miscellaneous correspondence and memoranda on fixing, adjustment and review of EMBL salary scales with special reference to inflation rates and comparability in Germany and France (Grenoble outstation), and with other international organisations, June 1975 - May 1981 when a "Working Group on the EMBL System of Remuneration" was set up.

Folder H.323. Papers and correspondence of Working Group on EMBL salaries (Chairman: C.A. Ladage), June-November 1981.

Folder H.324. Papers and correspondence on Working Group set up to study possible adoption by EMBL of Co-ordinated Organisations' remuneration system, March 1977 - May 1980.

Staff Association.

Moves to initiate a staff association began in April 1976 and a Pilot Committee was formed in June to draft statutes (Chairman: N. Strausfeld). This proved a protracted matter, first because the proposed draft was unsatisfactory and was extensively revised by Kendrew when submitted for his scrutiny, and later because of the association's possible affiliation to the German Trades Union Congress with difficulties arising for the international status of EMBL. After considerable comment and re-drafting, the statutes were formally accepted by Kendrew in May 1978 and a Committee elected in September.

Folder H.325. Early papers, drafts and correspondence on Statutes, April 1976 - September 1978.

Folder H.326. Papers, memoranda, correspondence with Staff Association (Chairman: J. Dubochet) on various EMBL affairs but mainly appointment and contracts, salary scales, membership of Co-ordinated Organisations etc. and including papers and representations made to Working Groups, 1978-1980.
