Computational Resources Committee.

This was established in 1979 "to discuss the policy of the Laboratory for satisfying in-house computational needs"; the first meeting was 23-24 March (Chairman: S. Brenner).

Folder H.198 (= closed). Papers, memoranda, Kendrew's manuscript notes, minutes of meetings etc., February 1979 - October 1980, on all matters affecting the organisation and future of the group; includes deliberations over the choice of a midi-computer system for which a separate Computer Planning Group was set up on 10 July 1980 whose minutes are also included. There are also reports and submissions by various other sub-groups on computing needs and organisation.

Folder H.201. Detectors.

Correspondence and papers, 1975-1981, on various types of detectors, including the "position-sensitive detector" developed for research programmes at DESY and ILL and on behalf of other European laboratories; much of this work was done by A. Gabriel. Folder includes patent applied for, information on workshops held on detectors, reports on research going forward elsewhere, collaboration with other laboratories.
