Laboratory Agreement.

This was the agreement establishing the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, signed on 10 May 1973 by ten countries (Austria, Denmark, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom).

The material deals with last-minute negotiations, mainly involving delays in Italy's decision to contribute, and with the signing ceremony itself.

Folder H.1. April 1972 - January 1973. Agreements to participate, delays and last-minute snags. The signing ceremony was proposed for 19 February 1973 but postponed because of Italian uncertainty.

Headquarters Agreement.

This was signed between the Federal Republic of Germany and EMBL on 10 December 1974 at Bonn, Kendrew signing on behalf of the Laboratory.
