Miscellaneous notes, data, correspondence etc. by Kendrew and several collaborators relating to the myoglobin programme, earliest date 1955 but mainly 1957-1958, sub-divided as follows:

"Exp." Notes and diagrams for camera settings for 3-D pictures, densitometer data (1955), several series of wedge tests (1958) annotated by Kendrew, comparison of Cambridge and Royal Institution results, correspondence or notes by Dintzis, P.J. Pauling, T. Deeley, D.C. Phillips, Dickerson.

"Theo." Notes and calculations on number of reflections required at various Angström resolutions (1958), phases, scaling by Wyckoff (1956) and others, electron density charts, contour maps, phase determination (1957 by D.M. Blow).

Untitled, at rear of book, project diary by Kendrew 24 April 1957 - 10 December 1958 intercalated with related correspondence and notes from or to collaborators and various charts on "State of project". Of special interest are his "Notes on the myoglobin programme" written for W.L. Bragg 27 April 1958. These outline the future programme, the probable timespan, the methods and equipment required and the division of labour between Cambridge and the Royal Institution. He writes: "Stage II will be a 3-dimensional Fourier synthesis with resolution 3 or 2-Å, obtained by the method of isomorphous replacement. Stage III will be a synthesis going as far out in reciprocal space as we can - probably to 1.5-Å - preferably by the heavy-atom method."
