Miscellaneous manuscript notes.

This is an assemblage of tightly written notes on a series of small format (17mm × 9mm) early "Filofax" lined and graph pages, with dividers. They are not in chronological or alphabetical order but follow the coded "Arrangement of notes" devised by Kendrew and laid out on the first two pages of the sequence.

The material is divided into two main areas "Operational" and "Technical". It contains, often in very condensed form, information on a wide variety of topics relating to air power, allied and hostile, in all theatres of war, radar and navigation aids, bombing and detection devices, circuits and equipment, anti-submarine warfare, analyses of performance in defence and attack etc. It derives variously from a study of official documents or published reports, Kendrew's own activity in operational research and visits to air stations, committee or policy decisions. Most entries are dated, the main coverage being July 1939 - May 1945, but there are sections under "TRE" and "RDF Hist." which incorporate material going back to 1930.
