t its meeting in November 1970 the Conference set up four Working Groups to study the laboratory proposals, their membership consisting of national delegates and two EMBO consultants for each group. Their task was to study respectively the role, the organisation, structure and administration, the site, and the financial aspects of the laboratory. There was in addition a Steering Group of the Working Groups to co-ordinate their work and to prepare a report.
