Richards visited the Soviet Union as a Royal Society lecturer on various aspects of nuclear magnetic resonance at the invitation of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

Visit to Yale, April 1978. Richards gave the Woodward Lecture on 'Phosphorus Magnetic Resonance of Intact Biological Tissues'. Lecture poster only.

Folder F.12. Oxford/Smithsonian Seminar, Worcester College Oxford, 12-26 September 1981. Richards was 'President' of the seminar. Letter of thanks from the organiser (acknowledged).

Colloquium on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Louven, 25 January 1982. The title of Richards's contribution was 'What can we learn from NMR measurements on animals and human beings?'. Poster only.

Folder F.13. Visit to USA and Canada, August-October 1982. Richards visited a number of laboratories (General Electric, Schenectady and IBM, Danbury) and attended a conference at Stanford before travelling to the University of British Columbia to advise and lecture on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance as a Cecil H. and Ida Green Visiting Professor. He then returned to the USA to visit Galveston for further discussions and lectures on NMR.

Folder F.14. National Conference on Biological Imaging. II Clinical Aspect, National Academy of Sciences, Washington DC, 16-18 October 1983. Richards spoke on 'Technical Development of NMR Imaging'.

Folder F.15. 50th Anniversary Meeting of the Israel Chemical Society, Jerusalem, 10-12 April 1984. Richards accepted an invitation to speak on 'Spin Imaging of Human Beings by NMR', but later withdrew.
