Folder E.52. General correspondence and papers, 1959, 1964-1968. 1964 items include programme of discussion meetings on magnetic relaxation organised by Richards. 1966 correspondence relates to Ph.D training, Royal Society appeal, and interchange between scientists in Western Europe.

Folder E.53. General correspondence and papers, 1972-1974. 1972 correspondence relates to the Rothschild report. In 1973 Richards was elected to the Royal Society Council.

Folder E.54. General correspondence and papers, 1977-1980. 1986. 1978-80 correspondence relates to a discussion meeting (organised by Richards and K.J. Packer) on 'Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy in solids'. 1986 material relates to Royal Society Industrial Soirée organised by Richards.

The Hooke Committee makes 'suggestions to the Secretaries for the programme of the Society's Ordinary Meetings'. Richards was a member from 1973 and chaired the Committee 1977-1985.

The material is a chronological sequence of correspondence and committee papers re the choice of topic for and organisation of Royal Society discussion meetings and review lectures. Many of the committee papers, especially during the period of Richards's chairmanship, are heavily annotated.
