Notebook incribed 'Rex E Richards St. John's Coll., Oxon. Results. August 1944'.
Unpaginated notebook (many pages unused) kept as daily diary of Chemistry Part II and postgraduate work between 27 August 1944 and 17 July 1946, including work on penicillin and specimens of German rubber. The diagram opposite entry for 29 September 1944 relates to Richards's first published scientific paper (with H.W. Thompson), 'An Absorption cell for melted solids', Trans. Faraday Soc., 1944. From the back are lists of 'compounds used and studied with details of source, melting point etc.'.
