Arrangement
Refrences to Organ Books can be explained thus: The front part of MS. Tenbury 1181 is paged continuously after MS. Tenbury 1180; hence 'org. 1' - 'org. 274' = MS. Tenbury 1180 and 'org. 275' onwards = MS. Tenbury 1181 (front part). Reversing MS. Tenbury 1181 is an independent pagination for Full Anthems, 'org. 1' etc. MS. Tenbury 1182 has both forward and reverse paginations: 'org. iiia' = forward pagination and 'org. iiib' = reverse pagination.
Custodial History
The part-books belonged formerly to W. Gostling, the owner of the Batten Organ Book (MS. Tenbury 791) and of other valuable collections; they passed later through the hands of Highmore Skeats, and of W. J. Porter in 1809. At that date Porter also owned the organ-books, and these belonged to Joseph Warren in 1864.
