This series comprises papers relating to A.J. Ayer's published work, usually manuscript and typescript versions (occasionally with comments and corrections), proof copies, offprints, newspaper cuttings or other printed versions. These papers are arranged by type, e.g. books, essays, articles and reviews, then by publication date.

Also included are unpublished and unidentified manuscripts and typescripts, as well as miscellaneous notes and excerpts, and articles by other authors which were found with Ayer's papers.
