Alternate title: Plate 6, "Sun Pictures in Scotland" (1845)The list of plates for "Sun Pictures in Scotland" has an extended caption for this image of Sir Walter Scott's favourite dog, Maida, which says of the original statue, 'It has a Latin inscription, nearly as follows:- Maidae marmorea dormis sub imagine Maida Ante fores domini sit tibi terra levis.' That Latin inscription reads, in part, "sleep soundly, Maida, at your master's door".

The collection consists of 105 prints, the majority of which are vintage silver prints developed around the creation of the images. 62 of them were digitally printed in 2019.

This bust is one of the objects most photographed by Talbot and is a plaster copy of a marble bust which was excavated by the Scottish artist and archaeologist, Gavin Hamilton (1730-1798).The reverse of the album leaf is blank.
