In July 1949 the MRC's Antibiotics Research Station at Clevedon began to produce culture fluids from the cephalosporium fungus for study by the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. In early 1952 Abraham's colleague Guy Newton was sent to Clevedon to help speed up the supply of Cephalosporin N. The improved supply enabled Abraham's team to isolate almost pure Cephalosporin N.
