When Cock told him he had heard Sir Henry Brabant, who had been in exile with Charles II, say that in an interview he had with the earl of Clarendon at the time of his disgrace the latter expressed his repentance for the advice he once gave the King to make much of his enemies because his friends would continue to be his friends.
