Hodgkin worked with Bernal in Cambridge, 1932-4. He subsequently became Professor at Birkbeck College London, Physics 1937-63, Crystallography 1963-8. Hodgkin lectured and wrote about Bernal on a number of occasions, preparing the biographical memoir for the Royal Society (Bibliog. 160, 1980). See MSS.
