Biographical / Historical
Dr. Humphrey Hody was born 1 January 1660, and matriculated at Wadham College, Oxford, 10 March 1676 (BA 1679, MA 1682), becoming a Fellow of the College on 4 July 1685. He was away from Oxford from about 1693 until elected Regius Professor of Greek in 1698. He was Archdeacon of Oxford from 1704 till his death on 20 January 1707. By his will Hody bequeathed to the Bodleian all his printed books not already in the Library, and his manuscript Collectanea.

The manuscripts seem to have been received at the Library early in June 1707.
