Biographical / Historical

From 1920 until circa 1950 British Political Agencies in the Gulf issued manumission certificates to those seeking freedom from enslavement.

Custodial History

The certificate was found among the books donated to the Nizami Ganjavi Library from the collection of diplomat Sir James Craig (1924-2017) who served as British ambassador to Syria and Saudi Arabia and political agent to the Trucial States.
