Archive of Sir Arthur Trenham Weatherhead (1905-2004) as member of Colonial Administrative Service in Northern Nigeria.

Biographical / Historical

Sir Arthur Trenham Weatherhead (1905-2004) was educated at St. Bees School, Queen's College, Oxford. In 1927, he joined the Sudan Plantations Syndicate, after which he entered the Colonial Administrative Service in Nigeria, where he served from 1930 to 1960. He was Deputy Governor of Northern Nigeria from 1958 to 1960. He married Sylvia Lace in 1938, was awarded the CMG (Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George) in 1957, and knighted in 1960.
