Biographical / Historical
Sir William Henry Harris KCVO (28 Mar 1883–6 Sep 1973) was an English organist, choral trainer and composer. He trained at the Royal College of Music and was organist successively of New College and Christ Church, Oxford and St George's Chapel, Windsor. Harris retired from Windsor in 1961 and moved to live in Petersfield, Hampshire, where he continued to compose. Harris is best-known as a choral composer, particularly for his two double-choir anthems 'Faire is the Heaven' and 'Bring us, O Lord God'. For more information, see Grove Music Online.
