Custodial History

This collection includes a number of items that belong to the Rhodes Papers (MSS. Afr. s. 228). These were listed in the original index and numbered accordingly, but appear to have been borrowed by Sir Lewis when writing his biography of Rhodes. It has proved impossible to restore them to their original positions, as the Rhodes Papers have been bound in the interval. The former references of such items are noted, and a list of separated materials is included in the catalogue that describes MSS. Afr. s. 228.
